Dharm |
After a successful debut screening at the 60th Cannes International Film Festival 2007, director Bhavna Talwar's movie Dharm, has been judged the Best Film at the Third Asian Festival of First Films (AFFF 2007) in Singapore.
Nominated in the same category were Beautiful, directed by Shaun Newcombe from Australia, The Last Queen of Earth, directed by Mohammad Reza Arab from Iran, and Weed, directed by Wang Liren from China.
Excited at Dharm's win Talwar said, "I'm overjoyed! Dharm being pronounced the Best Film at AFFF 2007 is a matter of tremendous pride. I am glad that a large and varied audience at the festival has had an opportunity to see the film. While my film explores religious under-currents in India, it also aims to spread the word that irrespective of where we come from, what religion we follow, humanity is every individuals prime duty. In a world full of terror and violence, Dharm conveys a message of hope and shows to the world that all is not lost."
Dharm was recently screened at the 38th International Film Festival of India. It will also be showcased at various international festivals such as the Cancun Film Festival in Mexico and the Palms Spring Festival in California. |
