Today, Konkona Sen Sharma launched Cotton World, India's first ever store dedicated to natural clothing. Cotton World plans to discontinue the use of plastic bags and introduce cloth shopping bags. This way, around 200,000 plastic bags will be replaced by Eco-friendly cloth bags and part of the proceeds from the sales will go to CRY (Child Rights & You).
The actress, who has pledged her support to child rights said, "This simple gesture by Cotton World will go a long way towards protecting the environment and securing child rights. I am who I am today because of the opportunities I was offered as a child which I just took for granted. These are the rights that should be guaranteed to every child in our country. The responsibility lies with all of us to ensure this happens. By using this cotton bag, we are pledging our support to children's rights and to improve the situation of our country's children." |
