Amitabh Bachchan and Sarika have bagged best actor and actress award for the 53rd National Film Awards announced for their performances in 'Black' and 'Parzania' (a social film in English based on the Gujarat rites), respectively.
'Black', directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali was adjudged the best feature film in Hindi.
The best popular film, providing wholesome entertainment went to 'Rang De Basanti', directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra. The award carries a Swarna Kamal and Rs 50,000 each for the producer and director of the film.
The Nargis Dutt Award for the Best Feature Film on a National Integration was awarded to 'Daivanamathil' (Malayalam), directed by Jayaraj.
'Parineeta', directed by Pradeep Sarkar bagged the Indira Gandhi Award for the Best First Film of a director.
Best film on social issues award went to 'Iqbal', directed by Nagesh Kukunoor.
The award for the best direction was bagged by Rahul Dholakia for 'Parzania'. |
