The Government of Maharashtra has commenced an inquiry into the status of Amitabh Bachchan being a farmer. To avail the facility of subsidy extended towards farmers to acquire land at cheaper rates, Amitabh Bachchan had shown his "farmer status" some time back to acquire land in UP. He had also purchased a piece of land in Maharashtra on those grounds.
The inquiry, to be carried out by the deputy commissioner will decide the status of Amitabh Bachchan as "farmer".
