Yesterday, the Supreme Court cleared the release of the film 'Black Friday'. The bench said the producers "need not wait till the completion of the pronouncement of sentence by TADA court." The bench also asked the Central government and the Censor Board if they have any objections to the release of the movie. The counsels for both said no.
The HC had passed its order on a petition filed by blast accused Mushtaq Tarani who said the release of the film based on the 1993 blast incidents could affect the case.
The TADA court on September 27th found Mushtaq Moosa Tarani guilty of planting a suitcase bomb at hotel Juhu Centaur and parking an RDX-laden scooter at Zaveri Bazaar's Shaikh Memon Street. It paved way for the release of the movie.
'Black Friday' is based on the confessions of accused Asghar Mukadam and Usman Jan Khan. Mukadam, accountant of main conspirator Tiger Menon has been found guilty. The film won the best film award in a festival called ISSLA in Los Angeles in 2005.
