Besides its slate of big-budget blockbusters (such as 'Swades', 'Lakshya', 'Rang De Basanti', 'D', etc.) UTV stands committed to supporting small and quality Bollywood features as well. Having completed Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Blue Umbrella', which is premiering at the Pusan Film Fest currently, UTV has just released one of its small productions 'Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh', worldwide yesterday.
The film, like most small films, would have gone straight to DVD in the UK but UTV has used its in-house distribution strength to give it a single cinema experimental release in London as well, in addition to a few prints in the US and UAE.
Directed by Ram Gopal Varma's assistant, Chandan Arora (of 'Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon' fame), the cute, simple and unpretentious film stars comedian Rajpal Yadav, Kay Kay and National Award winning Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta. It is a slice-of-life romantic comedy about an odd couple and the insecurity and frustration that ensues when a short man marries a tall and beautiful woman. |
