Buttering up Aamir?

As often happens with epic movies, many scenes in Mangal Pandey got chopped off to keep the film within a manageable length. Many powerful sub plots which were not too crucial for the overall story reportedly landed up in the waste bin. The problem with this is that some of the actors who worked very hard could not exhibit their histronic talents.

Murli Sharma, who plays the traitor Paltoo Khan, the character who sides with the British was one such. He had a small but crucial role in the film. But when he attended the premier, to his deep disappointment he found that only two or three of his scenes were retained. One would expect him to be miffed but to our surprise Murli has been raving about the movie and his role in all his TV and print interviews. In one TV interview the day after the premier he actually said that his scenes deserved to be cut for the overall narrative. Phew!!

We hope Aamir Khan saw that interview
