Mehul Kumar |
Another cheque bouncing case in Bollywood! This time the wronged has taken the wrongdoer to the court.
Producer-director Mehul Kumar was released on bail by a Bandra metropolitan court. Some hours ago, he was charged with duping his long-time writer associate K K Singh. The non-payment concerned Kumar’s last film Jaago (2004), starring Manoj Bajpai and Raveena Tandon, which was written by Singh.
According to Singh’s lawyer Puneet Chaturvedi, Mehul Kumar was to pay Rs 2.90 lakh to Singh for writing ‘Jaago’. Since Kumar pleaded that he was going through a dire financial crisis, Singh agreed to charge the sum over three installments. Then all the cheques started bouncing. However Kumar is pleading not guilty. He brushes it off, saying that the amount is extremely small, there is no point in making a big deal out of it and Singh wanted to malign him. Now, Kumar, why would a writer who has been so faithful to you for 12 years change colours suddenly? |
