Abhishek Bachchan got signed up for Karan Johar's 'Kabhi Alvida...' the dates of which clashed with Mira Nair's forthcoming 'The Namesake', being produced by Fox (US), UTV (India) and a Japanese production company. He had to be replaced by budding Indo-US actor, Kal Penn, who flew down especially from LA to New York to audition for Mira. "He is a wonderful actor and will go places," said Mira of Kal.
Incidentally, the latter has been signed up for 'Superman Returns' as well. Kal Penn has also agreed to the nudity (in the love-making scenes) in Mira's film, something Abhishek was opposed to. Zuleikha Robinson who was seen in ‘Hidalgo’ will play Kal’s love interest. Tabu and Irrfan Khan will play his parents. |
