While it is a known fact that 'Veer-Zaara' has worked tremendously overseas and is a hit in Mumbai, in the rest of India, it is far from a hit. An ardent movie buff and a reader of one of the popular newspapers in Mumbai pointed out this discrepancy to us.
In the recent colour advertisements by Yashraj (released on December 03), there was a claim that in the first three weeks of release, it had grossed 35 crores in India. In another ad on December 31st, there was a statement that collections stood at 36 crores. Does that mean in the latter four weeks (between December 03 and December 31), the film accumulated less than a crore!!!? Possibly the figure in the ad was not updated but it also seems like the film is not a blockbuster as claimed! |
