Sonu Nigam is an unimaginably busy man these days. His debut film, Kaash Aap Hamare Hote starring him and Juhi Babbar…the daughter of Raj and veteran theatre artiste Nadira…is on the verge of being released. Naturally, Sonu is leaving no stone unturned to see that the film gets seen, talked and written about. And he’s succeeding. Last week, Lalloo Prasad Yadav came on state TV to request Biharis to watch this wonderful film, which he had previewed. Sonu is also touring with A R Rahman. First at the show that was a resounding success in Kolkata, and now on February 12 to Hyderabad, where Lata Mangeshkar will also be performing. So this year has started off remarkably well for Sonu Nigam. But perhaps the cherry on the icing is the new deal he has struck. An album he will cut with twice Grammy Award winner Rita Coolidge and her boyfriend, the star percussionist Brent Lewis. Naturally he is over the moon with this new assignment. Incidentally, the American musicians are planning to record Sonu’s portions in Hindi and English. Now this we would like to see…er, hear. |
