"At a time, when Indian cinema stands poised to influence the global film arena, filmmakers need to develop and understand the importance of marketing for their movies," said Mr. Shravan Shroff, Event Chairman of the forthcoming 'CineMint: A Fresh Look at Film Marketing' which is being organized by CII in Mumbai on November 21-22, 2003 at 'InterContinental The Grand Mumbai.' The event will include discussions on issues such as marketing strategy, sales & acquisitions and film festivals & markets, amongst others.

The objective of the conference is two-fold: to discuss, disseminate and increase awareness of the importance of film marketing and to enable and encourage filmmakers, who wish to take the first steps toward effective marketing of their films outside of India. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra is likely to deliver a special address to the delegates attending the summit.

Sessions covered by CII at the summit shall include:
  • Kabhi Classy, Kabhi Chaotic: Rejuvenating the Indian Marketing Formula, an opening session focusing on the overall importance of global film marketing.
  • From Greece to East: Marrying Strategy with Story, focusing on marketing strategy and specific case studies from the marketing of My Big Fat Greek Wedding and East is East.
  • Mission Possible: Finding Your 'Secret' Global Agent, focusing on the role of acquisition and sales agents in global distribution.
  • Around the World in Many Ways: Connecting Festivals to the Future, focusing on the role of film festivals and markets as platforms for film marketing.
  • Cinematic India: Coming Soon to a Country Near You, focusing on India's future positioning and brand in the global market.
This two-day conference would be attended by producers, directors, marketing experts, advertising executives, brand managers, publicists, public relations experts, media buyers and planners, distributors, exhibitors and others interested in new methods for marketing films. One full day of the summit will be devoted to one-to-one meetings between members of Indian industry and interested international speakers.
