Saas Bahu Aur Sensex is the second film by Shona Urvashi. Her debut film, 'Chupke Se', starring Syed Zulfi, Masumeh and Rati Agnihotri had some lovely, soul touching music by multi-faceted, Vishal Bhardwaj with lyrics by Gulzar. Even though the film sank without a trace, the music was appreciated, so let us check out what the new bunch of composers, three to be precise, Randolph Correa, Blaaze and Bipin Panchal have to offer us music buffs.
New composer, Randolph Correa has been assigned the opening number of the album, 'Abhi Abhi Jo Tu Aayee Hai', which could be classified as a normal routine, love ballad but it's the singer, Javed Ali who takes the number to a higher level. Javed who epitomized love with his 'Jashne Bahara' (Jodhaa Akbar) gets to render another petal, soft romantic number and he is superb as always. The simple, flowing rhythm of the love ditty along with equally simple musical arrangements (guitar and beads in the background) makes for an interesting hear, though Pritam's trademark crooning, "o, o, o" takes one by surprise. And somewhat dilute the effect. Raqueeb Alam's lyrics are simple and effective although quite filmy at times. |
