Krazzy 4
Krazzy 4
Remember Kishore Da's evergreen, classic number from 'Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi', 'Paanch Rupaiya Barah Aaana'? And if you thought that this is one of the best and most hilarious situational songs till date, wait till you hear the next number, 'Ek Rupaiya'. It will definitely rank right up there (if well picturised), as this situational track has some absolutely rip roaring lyrics by, who else, but Javed Sahab! He handles different situations and cites different hilarious incidents that the four main leads encounter as they go about begging for a rupee. Sample these funny lyrics "O dus rupaya waale baba, Tum poora pahad hilate ho, Hamse kankad bhi nahin hilta, Tum dus rupaya le lete ho, Hume ek rupaya bhi nahin milta." Rajesh Roshan shows his class as in one song he too handles the different situations (as per the lyrics and demand of the movie) with different shades of music, which changes complexion from Jazz, Rock and Roll, 'Qawwali', semi-classical Kishore da style, all rolled in one great situational track, that is bound to raise more than a few laughs. Able singers like Sudesh Bhonsle, Kirti Sagathia, Labh Janjua, Rahul Vaidya ( the Indian Idol runner up gets a major chunk of the song), Jimmy Moses and Bhaven Dhanak all do the needful in keeping up the light, hilarious mood of the song intact through some innovative singing and at times conversations too. The lead actors like Rajpal Yadav, Irrfan Khan, Arshad Warsi and Suresh Menon too add their bit. In fact, Suresh Menon is hilarious as he goes begging in a unique style, "Ek rupaya ka sawaal hai baba, Tere shares ke bhaav chadhein, Tere income bahut badhein".

Pure melody and nice flowing rhythm form the backbone of 'O Re Lakad', a strange sounding title no doubt. It is more of a philosophical track, a quizzical number, where the lead protagonists ask their psychiatrist, played by Juhi Chawla various innocent question relating to life in general. And the doctor sermonizing them about the facts of life, the beauty of nature and so on. The song is in the same corridor as 'In Panchiyon Ko Dekh Kar' from 'Koi... Mil Gaya'. Talented artists like Kailash Kher, Sowmya Raoh and Neeraj Sridhar (surprised to find him here) all give a professional performance.

The album comes to a close with our National Anthem, 'Jana Gana Mana' rendered well by Ankita Sachdev. Need we say more about the mother of all patriotic songs!

To sum up, we never expected anything other than one good item number in this album but give it to Rajesh Roshan who surprised us with a lovely mix of different kinds of composition. And has shut up his detractors (we being one of them for 'Krrish'!) with this album which is bound to hit the charts.
