The dawn of the millennium heralded the birth of a superstar in Bollywood, Hrithik Roshan with producer-director dad, Rakesh Roshan providing the perfect launch pad in the form of 'Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai'. The movie was a grand success and its music still remains one of the best and most popular works by Rajesh Roshan. Then came 'Koi... Mil Gaya' and Krrish' and the cent per cent success record of the Roshan family continued, though the music of 'Krrish' was disappointing in comparison to the last two. For his next venture, to be directed by his assistant Jaideep Sen, 'Krazzy 4', Rakesh has once again wrested the responsibility in his veteran brother's hands, as far as the music department is concerned. Let's check out if the Roshans come out with flying colours once again or not?
However, with massive superstars like Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan backing them up, it is not surprising that the answer will be yes!
Rajesh justifies the faith shown in him by coming up with a chartscorcher of a number, the title track of 'Krazzy 4'. There are four versions of the track. The first two are labelled as "Break Free" and "Break Free-Remix".
The first version, 'Break Free' is obviously the one picturised on King Khan, the promos of which are being aired on the various satellite channels for a while now. The song has already hit the Bull's Eye with the curiosity level at its peak and will definitely help in creating a tremendous hype for the movie. Coming to the scintillating track, it commences with some mindblasting drumming and the highly infectious rhythm. Then Vishal Dadlani, the singer with the 'midas touch' takes over as he goes full throttle, "Krazzy with a K, That's the way, K,R,A,Z,Z,Y" and the absolutely rollicking rhythm engulfs the listeners. The 'Dhoom' signature tune surfaces here as well, but only for a few seconds. Vishal , after a similar, mindblowing performance in the English version of 'Dhoom:2', has been chosen as the singer and it shows that gone are the days of professional jealousy and even a veteran like Rajesh has accepted the changes and has acknowledged composer Vishal as a competent singer. Vishal sings with attitude, the kind befitting of Bollywood's global superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, as the track in question is picturised on him. The lyricist, Asif Ali Beg has done a good job of writing lyrics which are easy to hum and the combination of simple Hindi and English lyrics (again with an attitude) are identifiable by the youth, who are the prime target in today's music market. The spirit of the movie, which is about the triumph of the underdog and the situation of the song (Shah Rukh performing at a function) has been taken into account. Needless to add that the song is a sure shot chartbuster, if not one already!
'Break Free-Remix' is an excellent job done by the arrangers. Though the pace and the rhythm is faster but it does not overkill the beauty of the original, as is the case with most remixes these days. Arrangers try too many things and don't keep it simple. |
