Aaja Nachle |
'Koi Patthar Se Na Maare', as is obvious, the title of this track is taken from Lata's chartbuster of the same name from Rishi Kapoor's super hit 'Laila Majnu'. Coming back to this number by Salim-Sulaiman, this seems to be more of a stage performance number with heavy background orchestra, highly charged (at times opera-like) singing by Sunidhi and Shreya with Sonu chipping in with his "fully loaded with emotions" rendition. Lyrics by Piyush Mishra , though dramatic, are a requirement of the situation in the movie and deserve praise. "Rakhna sambhal ke yeh patthar, Kal ko woh din bhi aayega, Patthar honge yeh makaan, Inki bhi hogi ek zabaan, Ke daastan-e- Laila-Majnu shaqs shaqs dohrayega, Patthar ka dher aaj yeh, Kal Taaj Mahal kahlayega". After the heavily charged 70's style composition, we are faced with an anticlimax in the form of an all English electric dance number in 'Dance With Me'. Titled to perfection, this song will definitely showcase Madhuri's western dancing prowess, as in Dil To Pagal Hai. Totally dominated by western musical instruments like the guitar, drums, plates, synthesizers and other percussion instruments, this is quite a rhythmic dance number sung well by Sonia Saigal. The English lyrics by Asif Ali Beg are appropriate and simple to understand. All this makes a nice track, which if well choreographed, will turn out to be an asset in the movie and appreciated by the youth. To sum up, Aaja Nachle has a strong mix of local flavourings from the north, with an overdose of the "Chopra-style" romantic numbers, as well as situational numbers which will be understood and enjoyed once the movie releases. It does have a wide variety to offer and can be given a hearing, at least for the sake of our beloved dancing Bollywood queen, Madhuri Dixit. Rating : 7/10 |
