Although ace-comedy director Priyadarshan has never been very finicky as far as the music of his films is concerned, nevertheless, songs from his films have always climbed up the charts and have played an important part in making most of his films successful. He has experimented with a whole lot of music composers in his short career; from Anu Malik to Himesh and now to his current favourite, Pritam. He is the one who gave Priyan two of the biggest hits of his career (in terms of revenue generated), 'Bhagam Bhaag' and 'Garam Masala'. Once again, it's Pritam who gets to deliver the goods in this youthful comedy film, 'Dhol'. So let's check it out to see if Pritam has delivered or not.

Synthesized rhythm and the word sexy commences the rocking title track 'O Yaara Dhol Bajake'. True to its title, it's a full dhamaal and masti number, a type of composition that the GenX will freak out on, in the clubs and discos, not to mention the lavish baraat processions. It has all the right elements, the ample use of dhol, drums and the usual rap that makes this a lively dance track. Daler's younger brother Mika (after his objectionable but hugely popular 'Ganpat') rocks this track with his total mast and bindas rendition. Irshad Kamil's lyrics deserve applause - "Aisi to hazaron yahaan, Roop ki ballyein hongi, Dekhte rahein hum jinko, Kahan who adaayein hongi, Pyaar ka karaar woh ho, Chahton ka noor woh ho, Bane jo hamari soni, Heer woh ho, Hoor woh ho." The only hitch is that this destined to succeed composition is inspired by 'Koi Shehri Babu Dil Lehri Babu'('Loafer'). Inspiration or no inspiration, this number is bound to hit the charts.

It's lovely to hear Soham Chakraborty along with Sohail Kaul delivering yet another version of the rocking title track 'O Yaara Dhol Bajake'. But when we hear the whole number, we realize that its almost the same track, lyrically and musically. Yet this is such a good number, who cares. Of course, Soham and Sohail keep up the festive, masti spirit alive with their lovely rendition.

The icing on the cake is Labh Janjua's version. After topping the charts with 'Soni De Nakhre', this highly talented and hot in demand Punjabi singer gets to deliver another rocking Punjabi flavoured song 'O Yaara Dhol Bajake', which undoubtedly turns out to be the best of the lot.
