A decade back, any musical offering from Subhash Ghai's Mukta Arts was greeted with much fanfare by the music industry and the music lovers too, as it was a guarantee of good quality music and success. But over the years, with repeated failures (at the box-office), the scenario has changed. And so have the music directors!
Himesh's association with Ghai goes back a long way and we can say that it was Himesh who gave Ghai success again in form of 'Aitraaz' and '36 China Town'. So we do expect some fireworks from Himesh, specially as the star in question is Emraan Hashmi who is largely responsible for making Himesh a household name. And of course not to forget, Tusshar Kapoor, who too like Emraan has always been lucky, as far as success in music goes, the latest example being 'Kya Love Story Hai'.
The title track 'Good Boy Bad Boy' commences with Akriti Kakar trying to do an Alisha Chinoy of 'I am a bad girl' from Mithun's 'Guru' and is just pathetic. Himesh is ill-suited for this type of youth-oriented hip-hop track and appears totally out of sorts in the 'mukhda'. Though he does well in the 'antras' and the Punjabi parts. A more naughty and youthful voiced singer was needed for this number, say a Shaan or a Sonu. Maybe because this song is picturised on Emraan Hashmi and knowing that they click in a big way as an actor-singer team, Himesh thought it better to render this number himself. Apart from the renditions even Sameer's English lyrics appear funny and hence the composition is disappointing.
