"Jab bhi ho gham, Zyada ya kam, Muskurayenge hum, Gayenge hum, Ta ra rum pum..." - These inspiring lines by Javed Sahab essentially sum up the spirit of 'Ta Ra Rum Pum', that is the triumph of the human spirit over all the hardships and obstacles in life. This latest offering from the Yash Raj banner promises a lot as it comes from their latest blue-eyed boys Vishal and Shekher and the evergreen genius Javed Akhter.
The first composition is the really cute title track 'Ta Ra Rum Pum', that the children and the young at heart will fall in love with instantly. And the promotional video featuring Saif, Rani, the kids and of course the Disney characters will make sure they do. Coming back on track (rather to the first track!), Shekher says that one will feel the melody of the 70s and 80s in this song, but we want to ask, why was there a need for the 70s and 80s feel in a GenX movie set overseas?
Anyway, what we feel is that the 'mukhda' is blatantly 'inspired' from Bhappi Da's 'Goron Ki Na Kalon Ki' and Mithun Chakraborthy's musical blockbuster 'Disco Dancer'. Leaving the inspirations aside, the highlight of the song is the lyrics by Javed Akhter, who juggles up the words with masterly precision, conveying the feel of the movie so clearly and effortlessly. Of course, Shaan and Mahalaxmi’s renditions are top-class.
