For the lovers of high quality, original and melodious music (still high on 'Rang De Basanti'), its celebration time once again, as one of the oldest and the biggest production houses, Yash Raj Films have just given us reason to do so. Obviously, we are referring to the audio release of one of the most awaited and anticipated albums of 2006, 'Fanaa', meaning - perish or destroyed (in love), boasting of a stellar cast like Aamir Khan, Kajol (comeback movie) and Tabu.
Aamir of late has become synonymous with good quality films and music, right from 'Lagaan', 'Dil Chahta Hai', 'Mangal Pandey' and 'Rang De Basanti'. And when he returns to the Yash Raj camp, a decade-and-a-quarter after 'Parampara', nothing but the top-of-tops is expected.
So let us savour the audio treat that Jatin-Lalit have for us, about which we have heard and read only good things so far.
Shaan's fresh and youthful humming, followed by highly rhythmic 'dholak thaps' and claps commences the best track 'Chand Sifarish', which some refer to as "Subhan Allah" (meaning praise to the lord). Undoubtedly, it's one of Jatin-Lalit's best romantic tracks since 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge'.
Kailash Kher mouths only "Subhan Allah" and he is simply awesome with the way he pumps in emotions and feelings with just two words at his disposal.
Shaan is amazing and does a splendid job and shows his class and proves that he has come along way since his 'Musu Musu Hasi' pop days. Of course it would be a cardinal sin not to mention Prasoon Joshi's out-of-this-world lyrics (that can make Javed Akhtar/Gulzar proud) - "Chand sifarish jo karta hamari. Deta woh tumko bata. Sharm-O-Haya ke parde gira ke. Karni hai humko khata." The words combined with some deadly (Rahman-like) beats make this track a music lovers' ambrosia.
