Ever since Yash Raj has brought outside directors into their banner, their music has undergone a change. Previously, it used to be quite traditional (Indian), but now with multiplex and overseas audience being their target, the music also becomes quite global with Western influences dominating the proceedings, even lyrically.
While the music of 'Neal N Nikki' was available on the Yash Raj site for a while (with enough snatches to review!), we prefer to review as always from an original CD once it is officially out. So here we go as Arjun Sablok, who started off with a dud - 'Na Tum Na Jano Na Hum' (no need to worry anymore it's Yash Raj banner!) and Salim-Suleiman who had a chartbusting 'Kaal', earlier this year, unite for Yash Raj's "Neal 'N' Nikki".
A first look at the listed tracks themselves is a good indication of the fact that another 'instant noodle soup' like album with fixed ingredients, predictable taste and limited shelf life is available for the gullible 'yuppie' audience to lap up.
