Producer Nitin Manmohan and Neha Arts’ latest venture, "Nayee Padosan" brings together a whole bunch of new talents. Not only Nayee Padosan marks the directorial debut of a well-known choreographer B.H. Tharunkumar it also introduces former models Anuj Sawhney, Aslam Khan and Mahek Chahal in the lead roles. The star cast also includes Vikas Kalantri and Rahul Bhatt each of who have a single film to their credit.
Nayee Padosan is widely believed to be a remake of Kishore Kumar, Sunil Dutt and Mehmood starrer Padosan, which it is not. Rather it is a remake of a K. Bhagyaraj's Tamil film made some 20-25 years ago. According to Nikhil Jagmohan P., the executive producer of the film, "after Tharun bought the story rights of the film in 1999, 95% of the film was changed, being adapted to suit an all-India milieu." However, Nikhil informs that "the soul of the original script remains and the protagonist as a Tamilian was retained."
The story of "Nayee Padosan" is played out at this housing colony, Marigold Society, which has a cluster of posh row houses and revolevs around a girl and four guys.
Pooja (Mahek Chahal) has just shifted into a new locality where Raju (Anuj Sawhney), Raja (Aslam Khan) and Ram (Vikas Kalantri) reside. Raju, Raja and Ram are from different backgrounds and have entirely different personalities but Pooja's simplicity, righteousness and a 'non-sense' attitude soon makes her the focus of their attention and one by one all three fall head over heals in love with the Nayee Padosan.
