Award-winning, choreographer turned director, Farah Khan, is set to release her debut film, 'Main Hoon Na', in theaters on April 30th. It's described cinematically as a musical/comedy/action/thriller. Ms. Khan has taken all the elements of Hindi cinema, namely love, emotion, drama, action, songs, villains, heroes and comedy, mixed it with freshness, energy, youth and soul, then rolled it all together to create what she calls, "a full on commercial masala formula Hindi picture." Garam masala would be more correct, as the banner that 'Main Hoon Na' falls under is called Red Chilies Entertainment.
The film touches on several subjects, one of which, involves the generation gap between parents and children, the second shows the bond between two half brothers, Ram Prasad {Shahrukh Khan} and Lucky {Zayed Khan} and how they come together in a crisis situation to fight a common cause.
The other issue, which the film has courageously addressed, is the tense relations between India and Pakistan. In an effort to unite the two, Ram's father, Brigadier Shekkar Sharma {Naseeruddin Shah} has one dream, which presents itself in the form of Mission Milaap. When he is martyred trying to fulfill this dream, Major Ram Prasad Sharma takes over to fulfill his duty to both his country and to his father's dying wishes. Armed with honor and courage, Ram begins the journey of a lifetime, a journey that commences with his going back to school at 31 years old, not as a teacher, but as a student.
