Now for the performances. Emraan Hashmi is decent but there's no smooch scene with his heroine. Ashmit is good as the villain. Newcomer Geeta Basra is lackluster. She tends to overact initially but settles down as the film progresses. Either her makeup is bad or there's something seriously not right about her face! Mithun is likable. Udita Goswami sizzles in an item number in the opening track of the film!

There are a couple of scenes that make great impact, especially the fight sequences in Mithun's house, and in the climax of the film. The film is well shot but tends to get slow in some parts. Himesh Reshammiya's music is a disappointment! Somehow his romantic and soulful numbers don't register. He's perfect for fast paced item songs.

On the whole, 'Dil Diya Hai' is a very bland love story.
