Gangster |
A lesser director could have ruined a subject like this. Some scenes make a strong impact- Daya coming back home and discovering the relationship between Aakash and Simran is one. The pain on his face looks real. Also his breakdown in the climax is superb. He speaks with his eyes more than through dialogues.
The three main leads; Emraan Hashmi, Shiney Ahuja, and newcomer Kangana are brilliant. While Shiney has already proved his mettle in his earlier films, Emraan is growing as an actor with every film. In this film he proves that he can do more than just smooch his heroines. He fits the part just right. Debutant Kangana is superb for a newcomer. She's not just photogenic and a first-rate actor as well but also exudes a sort of sensuality. Her looks differentiate her from the present breed of Bollywood actresses. She's an actress to watch out for! Pritam's music is the other USP of the film. All three songs, 'Tuhi Meri Shab Hai Subah Hai', 'Bheegi Bheegi' and 'Ya Ali' are good.
On the whole, 'Gangster' ranks among the best Bollywood films this year and should put the Bhatt camp in a stronger position.
