The film starts off well but just when you think there's going to be some real action in the last half hour, it starts slipping. Unlike previous Bollywood films that dealt with 'wife swapping, 'Mixed Doubles' brings up the issue of wife swapping quite realistically. There are a lot of funny moments. The dialogues are well written and so are the performances.
Sunil (Ranvir Shorey) and Malti (Konkona Sen Sharma) are a typical young Mumbai couple- married for 10 years, decent jobs, double income and a 6-year-old kid. It was a love marriage and like in most marriages the husband loves his wife but finds her boring. The spark is gone out of their marriage whereas things are the same for her. He avoids having sex with her under some pretext or the other. Until one day things change. He has his college friend (Ash Chandler) and his wife who are settled in the US dropping in at his place. When Sunil probes into the reason for his youthful looks, he tells him that he and his wife are part of a swinger's club. Wife Swapping, put in plain words! Sunil is kicked by this and decides to indulge in the same. He tries different ways of wooing Malti into it but fails.
