One knew well before the release of the film that 'Koi Aap Sa' would be an Aftaab Shivdasani- Natassha (Balaji girl!) film. And we weren't wrong in assuming that. You could say that Natassha has an author-backed role in the film. Dipannita Sharma as Simran gets no scope at all. She's wasted in the film. Not that the film is a masterpiece by any standards. It is very clichéd and slow in parts. But it had the basic premise of being a good film.
The first half of the film is what we so often see around us while the second half is a 'Kya Kehna' all over again. And yes, those who expect this to be another 'Kya Kool Hain Hum', considering it's coming from the same production house, then rest assured, it isn't! To cut a long story short, 'Koi Aap Sa' is not very different from the Balaji soaps.
The film has been directed by debutante Partho Mitra (his first film after innumerable television serials). He seems to have drawn inspiration from Karan Johar's 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' in the first half and then suddenly switches to 'Kya Kehna'.
