This film could easily have been made by a fresher from a film institute. Besides its amateurish look, it deals with a plot that has not been attempted in Bollywood so far. It has a fresh feel about it but somewhere something is amiss.
The basic theme of '7 ½ Phere' seems interesting. In a way it reminds one of 'Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani'. We are talking about the bit where television channels are trying to increase their TRPs. Besides looking at the strategies adopted by television channels to increase their viewership, it also looks at a traditional Indian marriage. So that way it also reminds one of 'Monsoon Wedding'.
There is a lot of humour, some real, some over the top, but the first half keeps you entertained with a lot of interesting incidents and light moments. However, the second half drags in places and becomes very clichéd. The film suddenly seems boring then. There is also some melodrama thrown in the climax which is sure to get on the audience' nerves. One will actually heave a sigh of relief when the film is finally over. This is sad for a film that starts with lot of promise.
