'Silsiilay' is the story of three women in bad relationships and how they emerge from it! On the whole, 'Silsiilay' is an interesting journey into the minds of three women who walk, fall, and walk again. Not only do the women discover their identity after coming out unscathed from these relationships but in a way it also shows how women take time to get over their relationships unlike men.
On the flip side you could say that director Khalid Mohamed has indulged in a sort of male bashing. The characters are easily identifiable. Shah Rukh Khan is the story teller or sutradar and he does it effectively. He is also good in the title track.
Story 1: Zia (Bhoomika Chawla) is a hot actress. Originally from Hyderabad, Zia began her career down South (this explains her garish dress sense) to climb up Bollywood's popularity ladder. It's almost like Bhumika's real life story. On the personal front, Zia has major problems. Her bitter break-up with bookie Neel (Rahul Bose) has led her to crazy mood-swings, and dependence on alcohol. She lives with her moronic sister, Dia (Divya Dutta). What is the cause of the split? Zia ached for a baby out of wedlock. Neel is against it and soon falls for Nandita (Priya Badlani). Zia makes him an offer he cannot refuse. The sequences between the Neel and Zia are well handled.
