Kamal plays the role of a stuntman in 'Mumbai Xpress' |
Now for the story. The three-member gang (Vijay Raaz and two of his friends) had planned to kidnap a millionaire's (Sourabh Shukla) son from school. They are short of a man. So they chose Mumbai Xpress/Avinash (Kamal Haasan). Unfortunately, the kidnapping plan goes haywire when they kidnap an A.C.P. (Om Puri) and his mistress Ahilya's (Manisha Koirala) instead of the millionaire's son.
The kidnapping act is again very hilarious. Even the prequel to the kidnapping is extremely funny. What follows because of this wrong kidnapping is both emotional and funny. One cant express everything that one feels while watching the film but it is one helluva joyride!
Humour they say is more difficult than melodrama. Had the film had actors of a lesser caliber, then the entire film would have fallen flat. But with the best comic talent in the country; Om Puri, Vijay Raaz, Saurabh Shukla, Sharat Saxena, and a couple of other brilliant guys whose names and faces are not yet famous, one can only expect the best.
Of course, Kamal Haasan is the leader of the pack. He delivers a brilliant performance and keeps the film moving at a fast pace. The casting is brilliant. Even the kid (Manisha's son) is superb and delivers despite the presence of veterans. The absence of songs in the film does not matter. Manisha Koirala is likeable. Pratima Kazmi is brilliant. Raza Murad is wasted. This film has chances of working at the box-office, especially with vacations and the lack of good releases, favouring it.
