Produced by London based carpet dealer Surjit Pandher, Indian Babu, a film made with whopping Rs.12 crore (around $ 250,000) budget brings just one feeling to your mind, "Oh! What a waste of money." Shot at various locales of London and India, this film fails to touch your senses. Sadly, a director who gave us Saajan makes it.
The story of Indian Babu is heavily inspired by various films that set the trend of Indian-boy-NRI girl or vice versa. Dil (Gurleen Chopra) is a daughter of Lakshmipur's farmer Sharad (Alok Nath). He also has two more daughters from second wife Barkha (Nishigandha). The mother wants to get rid of Dil and fortunately, Abhay (Rajat Gowda) sets his eyes on this gorgeous girl. He is the brother of Thakur Sooraj Pratap Singh (Mukesh Rishi), the bad man of the village. So, the feared father has no choice and Dil is engaged to Abhay. But the moment ring ceremony is over, Dil collapses on the floor. Why?
The medical checkup reveals that Dil has a hole in her heart. Thakur's UK buddy Karan Thakur (Mohan Joshi) comes to the rescue of all and takes Dil along to London. The life in the city of Thames river becomes happier for Dil. With the help of Simran (Honey), Karan's daughter, Dil comes across Jeet (Jaz Pandher), a guitarist cum singer cum composer cum…of Sim's band. Soon, she falls for the guy and Jeet also goes mad about the Indian babe. But he is unaware of Dil's engagement with Abhay and that secret hits him hard only while the viewers are allowed some respite in the name of intermission.
Dil comes back to her village with Abhay and forgets her love that was flourishing everywhere while she was in London. What a change. Jeet is then encouraged by his father Kamlesh (Rajive Verma) who tells him how he, his father and grandpa had won their love even in the worst situation. So the guy flies to India in the first available flight to catch a glimpse of the girl and win her from Abhay. What happens afterwards needs no explanation as hundreds of Hindi movies have made viewers smart and sensible.
