The promos of the film project it as an extra-marital affair but it isn't! 'Dobara' opens with a slightly deranged Raveena Tandon in conversation with her pal (and partner in crime), Vrajesh Hirjee. They are planning out some important scene of action.
Cut to a happy couple, Jackie Shroff and Mahima Chaudhary. Jackie is driving his wife (Mahima) to work. A phone call to Jackie changes his life. It is a call to inform him that his ex-girlfriend (Raveena) has run away. Soon enough his 'ex' calls and Jackie is forced to go and meet her. But why is the 'ex' behaving in an abnormal fashion? The answer is, because she is not normal. Why did they separate if they had been so madly in love with each other almost 14 years ago? That's because she was sent to a mental asylum for an attempted suicide by slashing her wrists. Does this merit for someone to be confined to an asylum for so long, we wonder!
Cut to the present. Raveena informs Jackie that they have a young son who will turn 13 in a couple of days after which she can claim his custody. A shocked Jackie is eager to meet his son and agrees to accompany her to Goa to meet his son on his 13th birthday.
The wife (Mahima) is highly upset and imagines her husband to have gone back to his ex-girlfriend. This is very surprising considering the wife is a psychiatrist. The least one would expected her to do is talk it out to her husband especially when she is aware that the ex-girlfriend was a psycho. Instead she weeps and screams at hubby dear over the phone. She even sets out for Goa in search of her husband and meets an interesting young man (Muamar Rana) on the flight. He is struck by her good looks and is disappointed to hear that she is married. Mahima almost ends up spending the night with him in a bid to seek revenge with her husband who is gallivanting with his ex-girlfriend.
