To be fair, KTH does have its moments. There are certain scenes which are good enough to knock the socks off average Bollywood movies viewers. Most of the scenes which come off as scary can be credited to the camera angles and the cinematography by Johnny Lal and Fawiza Fathima. Amar Mohile´s background score also gels well with the mood of the film.
Directors Anil V. Kumar and Anurag Bose do a good job in the first half and keep the viewers entertained but post interval they lose their focus. A film which is supposed to be a horror film cum murder mystery turns into a love triangle. The climax of the film is a big letdown and it seems hurried and choppy. Scriptwriter, Rajeev Jhaveri tries his best to incorporate something for everyone but ends up with a script that is half baked on all accounts. Had Jhaveri resisted introducing the love triangle in a supposedly horror film, KTH could have made more impact on the viewers.
Anu Malik's music is average. Given the genre of the film, Anu could have tried something different with the film but he opted for same beaten to death tunes. The result - songs which hardly stay with you once you are out of the cinema hall.
On the performance front, Tusshar and Esha Deol just about manage to do whatever was required of them. Newcomer Natassha looks cute but doesn't show any potential for a future movie career. Rishi Kapoor is effective. Jeetendra is OK.
All in all, Kucch To Hai fails to deliver what it promises. The film will find the going tough after its initial week. |
