The much awaited Dil Ka Rishta is finally released. Produced by Tips Films and Target Films P. Ltd. and directed-edited by Naresh Malhotra Dil Ka Rishta is primarily a love story, as one would have expected it to be. The movie garnered quite a pre-release hype - thanks mainly to its songs and the superb publicity carried out by Aishwarya Rai. Dil Ka Rishta is made on the same line as Hollywood classic Magnificent Obsession which has already been remade into two Hindi films - Gulzar's Kinara and Anubhav Sinha's Tum Bin.

Dil Ka Rishta revolves around three characters:

Jai (Arjun Rampal) a rich, good-looking, charming fellow with a heart of gold. In short a 'Mr. Perfect' for any girl.

Tia (Aishwarya Rai) an exceptionally beautiful teacher at a deaf and dumb school.

Raj (Priyanshu Chatterjee) a good natured and good looking fellow.

Jai comes to India from South Africa along with his friend (Isha Koppikar) as part of a fund raising plan and stumbles upon Tia. Jai is immediately smitten by Tia and tries all he can to woo her but all in vain because her heart belongs to Raj. She eventually gets married to Raj and the couple has a baby. Jai still doesn't give up. He is so much in love with Tia that even after her marriage he keeps on pursuing her.

Something terrible happens and the fate starts playing its twisted game.

Jai is suddenly taken aback to find that Tia loves him! All the love that he longed to see in Tia's eyes is there now... but Jai turns away. Now he is in no position to reciprocate the love that he had hungered for...

What is it that makes Jai turn away from a love that he was willing to die for? What makes Tia suddenly fall in love with Jai?
