Vashu Bhagnani, who in the past has given many fun filled films to Bollywood movies lovers, is the man behind this week's release 'Jeena Sirf Merre Liye'. Presented by Puja Films and directed by Talat Jani JSML brings together the hit pair of Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, Vashu's last hit film.
Karan (Tusshar Kapoor) and Puja (Kareena Kapoor) are childhood friends who develop a liking and fondness for each other at a very tender age. However, they get separated after Puja's father (Vijendra Ghatge), a tycoon, goes back to the city, taking his lovely daughter with him.
Years pass by. Separated from each other Karan and Puja grow older living their own separate lives. But the special bond which they shared in their childhood still makes them linger for each other's company.
Twist of fate brings them together once again but they are unable to recognize each other. And when they do recognize each other, the circumstances become such that neither can openly confess love for the other.
Will the two overcome this predicament and renew their long bonding? Will their love survive the test of time?
JSML is based on a theme which has already been repeated umpteen times in Bollywood movies. Although the movie starts off well and seems promising but as the drama unfolds the grip starts loosening up. There are just too many sub-plots in the film which only make the film lengthy without adding any value to the main story line. Also, too many songs, most of which are not even melodious, bog the film down to a major extent. Most of the times, the presentation of the film either makes or breaks it and in the case of JSML director Talat Jani hasn't done that good of a job. However, the saving grace is the climax, which is well executed and keeps the viewer on the edge. Cinematography by Ahmed Khan & Umesh Jadhav is wonderful. Dialogues by Aman Jaffery are well penned at places. On the acting front Kareena Kapoor does a fair job. She seems to be stuck in her Poo mould from K3G and does need to break free from it. Tusshar is average. He goes overboard in a few scenes. Amongst character artists, Kader Khan is the best.
Jeena Sirf Mere Liye does bring the successful combination of MKKH together but lacks the magic that made MKKH successful at the box-office.
All in all, JSML is watch able but don't just expect too much from it.
