Which soft drink you wanna have? Or let's say which version of a Bhagat Singh movie you wish to see? If you are the one who wants to rush for the first releasing adaptation, then Sukumar Nair's Shaheed-E-Azam is for you. But for quality and class, you will have to wait till the next week.
SEA is the first Bhagat Singh movie to be released of around five to six that will the screen in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, it has nothing to offer when it comes to authenticity and making. The story of this film starts from Bhagat Singh's (Sonu Sud) childhood. He grows with hatred for the British rule and wishes to fight for the motherland some day.
Bhagat Singh meets friends like Sukhdev (Manav Gill) and Rajguru (Dev Gill) who are against the outsider rule and they also dislike Gandhiji's way of non-violence. lala Lajpat Rai's death, after he was beaten during the protest rally against Simon Commission, prompts Bhagat Singh and his friends to do something immediately. They kill the cop who was responsible for Lala's death and afterwards, also bombs the Central Assembly before surrendering to the law. Their case leads to national uproar that begins new chapter in the struggle of freedom. They are then hanged to death but before that, they manage to inspire lacs of Indians to raise their voices.
SEA is a low budget, low quality film. The director has actually missed a chance of doing something outstanding. Cinematography (S.K. Joshi), screenplay (Soham Saad) and editing are as impressive as desired. Even the music in poor. Also, the director has added an item number that is absolutely avoidable. The music is one of the weaknesses here and hardly one song succeeds to create any impression. However, dialogues are effective at places. Sonu Sud has performed well in the title role and that is a saving grace of the film. Manav Vij and Raj Zutshi are good while others are passable.
SEA is not a movie that one has to see to see who and what Bhagat Singh was. There are some other films coming in week. Better wait than to watch.
